Friday
Before we went out Friday night, Emma and I walked to the beach. When we got to the water, we passed by a group of three young women surrounded by red solo cups. Two of the women were trying to wake up their friend who looked intoxicated/unconscious.
I wasn’t sure if I should say something. I didn’t want to be a narc.
But, in Criminal Law earlier that day we learned about Kitty Genovese and the Bystander Effect (within the context of legal duties). With that story front of mind, I felt compelled to get some help.
I approached the lifeguard stand and knocked on the window. A surfer bro (21) walks out. He has big sunglasses on and his hat is on crooked.
“Hey, what’s up bro?”
“Hey bro, sorry to bother you. I was just walking by the water and I saw this unconscious girl, she looked pretty messed up on something. It might be good to check on her.”
I leave the lifeguard stand and a minute later we hear sirens and see two lifeguard SUVs driving on the sand toward the girls. We moved closer to see what was going on. They got her on a stretcher and into the vehicle. It seems like they were able to wake her up.
I don’t think I actually saved this person’s life. I’m sure they would’ve been fine eventually. Even so, I’m happy I said something.
After the beach, we headed back to the apartment for a little pregame before going to the Lincoln. And we took some photos 😉

Alec and I (also advertising High Noon)3

We went out to the Lincoln and had a great time. Alec bought a bottle of wine and we all danced with our glasses held up in the air. Everyone at the bar seemed excited to start the long weekend.
Saturday
After a few dirty martinis + high noons, today would be a recovery day. Emma and I invited Alex over and we chilled at the pool.

We had a few more high noons and headed back to the apartment for a photo shoot.

Nice, chill day.
Sunday

After the Baldwin Hills, we headed out to Will Rogers to meet up with Indy and Larissa at the beach.

Two years ago, during LDW, I got my first ticket. I was riding my bike on PCH and I blew through a red light. A motorcycle cop pulled me over and gave me a $300 ticket.
2024 LDW was a much better weekend overall!

- While we were in HS, Indy’s Latin teacher took her aside privately after class and told her, “You have a European face”. ↩︎
- Alec told me I looked like James Dean, so I was really feeling myself that night. ↩︎
- We’ve been on a dirty martinis kick recently. They’re the best– fun drink to hold at the bar and easy to make at home (extra olives). ↩︎
- Sadly, Emma lost these sunglasses in the ocean later that day ↩︎
